Final front cover music magazine
This is my final front cover for my music magazine, i have evaluated how it was made in a previous posts.
Evaluation question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what have you learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
When I began my task of the school magazine, I was clueless on how to create a magazine, yet alone how to use PHOTOSHOP, INDESIGN OR TAKE CORRECT PICTURES. My front cover for my school magazine is largely different to that of my music magazine.
When I began my preliminary task I was unsure on how to begin or execute my ideas well. I used a camera to take photos but even so I was unsure with what poses, backgrounds or angles to use. I feel I progressed with my music magazine as when taking the photographs for my front page, contents page and double page spread I ensured the background was plain or appropriate to make it seem more professional, and I knew my angles better ( like when I used WORMS EYE for my contents page ) and how I wanted the pictures to look.
My understanding and knowledge of using Photoshop and Indesign was very limited and basic when editing the pictures for my school magazine. I did not know how to use the clone tool properly and too its full extent so I struggled with editing pictures for my school magazine. However doing this proved to be beneficial, as it acted as a TRIAL RUN for when I edited my pictures for my music magazine. By the time I came round to using Photoshop for my music magazine my knowledge was greater, I understood Photoshop a lot more, and could use for specific tools for different things. THIS MADE MY PRODUCT MORE DEVELOPED AND CONSTRUCTED WELL.

THIS MADE MY PRODUCT MORE DEVELOPED AND CONSTRUCTED WELL.
As seen in the picture above, I learnt about fonts and text alignment. With my school magazine (the left picture) my heading it not aligned on the correct side of the page, it should be closer to the edge. This makes my magazine looks unprofessional. However on my right hand picture it looks far better when it is aligned. This also helped me with my contents page when making sure the text was aligned properly, to make it seem professional. I learnt a lot about FONT , what looked appropriate for my style of magazine and what did not, I feel my font was fairly good in my first attempt, I STUCK TO A COLOUR SCHEME and used font which correlated with the type of magazine I produced. I CARRIED THIS ON FOR MY MUSIC MAGAZINE.
My contents page for my school magazine was rushed , plain and boring. I included one picture and some text and felt like I needed more text (which I did not want because I did not want my contents page to be full of text) or another picture, I learnt from this mistake and on my school magazine included another photo to brighten the page. I think my school magazine contents page looked sloppy and the font was boring, which I changed for my music magazine
I took greater care in my music magazine than in my preliminary task, this proved beneficial to creating my magazine as I had a more motivated approach. Overall I think my knowledge was greater of PHOTOSHOP, INDESIGN, FONT AND PICTURES and this helped me create a much more professional looking music magazine. I was far more POSITIVE doing my music magazine than my school magazine and feel I PROGRESSED
Evaluation question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I researched institutions that distribute music magazines and BAEUR media group is a large institution which distributes magazines such as Q, heat and grazia. BAEUR distributes around 38 million magazines a week.
BAEUR is a german company and operates in 15 countries worldwide.
BAEUR also contributes to KISSFM , 4MUSIC and SMASHHITS TV which all feature mainstream pop music so this would be brilliant to use for my magazine if they already have companies in the same genre as my magazine.
I would want BAUER media group to distribute my magazine as i feel that with its knowledge of my genre already, it would be a good decision and would make good choices on what type of stores to distribute my magazine into and how to distribute it well and succesfully show my target audience.

Evaluation question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I feel that i based my magazine on other types of music magazine i research or read that aim their target audience at young adults wanting to listen to pop and mainstream music.
One of which is Billboard magazine, which in this issue features Pop star Rihanna on the front, who i have also featured and mentioned in my magazine.
My model looks like she should be in a pop magazine, she is dressed in a black tshirt and bright red lipstick with matching red hair which is similar to what Rihanna is doing above.
The features on my front cover represent this type of people, such as festival like V Festival and Creamfields which are mainstream and dance type festivals. Like the crowd seen to the left here at V Festival. These festivals also attract a generally younger crowd of people from 16-26 which is the same for my music magazine.
The contents page has many features such as "The Brits" which is a music awards ceremony, feauturing mainly mainstream bands. My use of text and features on the front page, contents and double page spread respresents the particular social group i am aiming my magazine at as it has similar music tastes ad fashions to what you would expect of someone listening to mainstream and pop music.

How i made my double page spread
The following screenshots show how i made my double page spread
I used the highlighted tool to ensure all of my text was alligned like it should be in a magazine.
I begun my drawing some simple lines onto my page, as this was the basis for my pictures and text.
After doing this i began to use the text box tool to create text boxes to write in for my interview.
I then finished my text, leaving the right hand side free for a large quote.
I begun adding my pictures to the double page spread.

Picture ideas for my double page spread
I thought about what type of pictures i would be using for for double page spread and researched some pictures online that i would like to base my pictures on, here are a selection of some i found:
I liked the idea of using different coloured lipsticks but with a similar or the same pose.
I liked the idea of using different coloured lipsticks but with a similar or the same pose.
I like the ideas of using bright lipsticks.
I also liked the idea of my model twirling her hair in photos.
Pictures for my double page spread
I took some photos for my double page spread, as there were lots of photos I decided to print screen them and show a select few.
Prelimiary drawings for double page spread
I drew out some vague ideas for my double page spread, too see what type of look i wanted to go for, Here are my drawings:
I like this drawing as it connetcs with my research idea of having a picture at the top and text at the bottom.
I do not like this idea as much as there is too much 'going on' on the page, i think if i created my magazine like this it would look blocky.
This is my favourite design out of all of my drawings, i think i will chose this sort of layout formy double page spread.
I like this idea, but not as much as my drawing before.
Specific and Detailed double page spread research
After doing some generic research i decided that i liked having text on the left and the bottom half of the page. I would want a picture on the right or along the top. I tried to find some double page spreads which has this layout.
I like the idea of this magazine, the different poses for the model that they have used going along the top. The magazine has used a clear blue white and black colour scheme, i dont think that their is too much text as the pictures are larger than the text.
Although this is not a music magazine, it goes along to support my type of magazine that i wanted.
This is my favourite layout and i think i am going to base my magazine on this layout, of text on the bottom and pictures going along the top, broken up with the use of lines. I think i will continue with the idea of this magazine and have a picture on the right or some further text on the right.
Double page spread general research
I began by researching some generic double page spreads, deciding in the process whether or not i liked the design and ideas used.
This is the first double page spread i came across, I like the layout, with the text in the left hand corner, a large picture and a large title. The text corresponds well as they have used black white and some red, to match the models shirt. The photograph reflects the title which i think is a good thing as readers are attracted to read what the article is about.
I like this double page spread because the USA is behind the picture and title, and this gives the double page spread a good look. There is not too much text, and it is placed on the right hand side, which i like but dont think i will use it for my magazine. The picture stands out and is bold and correspons with the USA in the foreground. I like this as their is not too much going on in the page but its effective.
This is my least favourite out of alll the double page spreads, i feel that the colours are too dark although the magazine has a good range of pictures and a small block of text in the middle. I think the text looks to squashed but i like the banner on the right hand side of the page as it brightens it up. The text and pictures correspond well with the title which works well.
This is my favourite out of all the double page spreads. The picture is large and the colour of the glasses match the colour of the question mark. The text is a big size so it leaves less space for a block of text. The text is situated on the left which i like. They have included a large text box in the middle with an interesting quote.
How i made my contents page
Here is how i made my contents page, each picture is annotated to show you in detail how i produced it.
