General contents page research

I began by researching some generic contents pages, deciding in the process whether or not i liked the design and ideas used.
This contents page is plain, but effective. They have used one large picture, clearly stated the date and have the features on the right hand side for the magazines. I personally do not like this contents page as it is too plain for me, although i can see why it was used.

Unlike the first page, i do not like this contents page as i think their is too many pictures behind the text. However i prefer this one to the first contents page i evaluated. They have followed a clear white pink and black colour scheme and included the title. The page numbers are clear, and there is clear headings such as "beauty, health & fitness" which break up the text alot.

I like this contents page as it has a clear rule of thirds, it has a band idex, clear headings and  a large picture to add interest. Personally i do not like the colour scheme used but i think that this contents page works well.

I do not like ther layout of this contents page, as i do not like the text squashed into one half of the page, but i still think it works well. A letter from the editor on the left looks good for a contents page, and various pictures used to break up the text. They have also included heading and stuck to a clear colour scheme. Aswell as promoting there magazine subscription in the corner. I like the picture in the top half of the contents page as it promotes the magazines target audience and theme well.

This is my favourite layout of all the magazines, where there is a clear rule of thirds and the text is on one side, while there is a picture on the other side. They have used headings like most contents pages and even included a seperate section for whats on the front cover. I like the pictures across the top and the page numbers in the corner of the pictures.
